Argus BNVG-1431MK2 Binocular Night Vision Goggle Housing Kit With Lenses
Color

OVERVIEW

The BNVD-1431 MK2 is a multi-purpose Binocular Night Vision Device (BNVD). It uses a standard MX-10160 18mm image intensifier tube (IIT) and can also operate with MX-11769 tubes after minor modifications. All specifications are designed and tested to meet the requirements of elite law enforcement and special operations units.

The BNVD-1431 MK2 can be either helmet-mounted or handheld. Its optical pods can be easily flipped 140° sideways, allowing the user to quickly adapt to different lighting conditions. The device features a built-in gravity sensor, which enables it to automatically power on or off based on its orientation. When flipped up above the helmet or head mount, the device automatically powers off — preventing eyepiece light exposure and potential tube damage caused by continuous exposure to bright light sources.

When equipped with auto-gating technology, the BNVD-1431 MK2 swiftly adjusts image brightness and protects itself from sudden flashes of light, allowing the user to react or engage without removing the device.

The housing is made of fiber-reinforced polymer with high strength, high modulus, and flame-resistant properties, ensuring durability in harsh environments. The BNVD-1431 MK2 runs for over 15 hours (at room temperature) using a single AA battery. When connected to an external battery pack, runtime extends to over 50 hours (battery packs sold separately).

The BNVD-1431 MK2 is compatible with U.S. military standard PVS-14 lenses (#A3256342), which are widely available in both the commercial market and government issue systems. It can also be equipped with commercial 40° lenses, 51° lenses, or ultra-light resin lenses upon request.

KEY FEATURES

  1. Power-saving design: When the device remains still for an extended period, it enters a dormant mode and powers off the tubes. It automatically reactivates upon detecting movement. An indicator light on the pods alerts the user when battery power is low.
  2. Built-in gravity sensor: The device automatically powers off when flipped up using any helmet or head mount. This function does not rely on a magnetic switch or special modification.
  3. Programmable one-hand interface: All electronic functions are managed by an integrated chip in the bridge housing. A single button controls all functions and allows easy one-hand operation. Automatic flip-up shutdown and dormancy features can be deactivated by pressing the button five times. The gravity sensor can also be disabled during military free fall, diving, or rappelling to prevent unwanted power interruptions.
  4. Status indicator: A red light in the pod indicates low power or deactivated functions.
  5. Rugged construction: The housing is made of fiber-reinforced polymer with high strength, high modulus, and flame-resistant properties for superior durability. The dovetail interface fits all Wilcox dovetail mounts on the market. Each pod can be flipped independently, allowing the user to quickly switch between single-eye and dual-eye configurations depending on tactical needs.
  6. Thermal compatibility: The pods are fully compatible with clip-on thermal imagers such as E-COTI and Jerry-C, enabling thermal fusion capabilities.

HOW TO OPERATE

  1. Flip-Up Power Off:
When mounted on a helmet or head mount, the device automatically powers off once fully flipped up above the head. It powers back on when flipped down. The device only shuts off when the flipping angle exceeds the predefined threshold, so simply raising the head will not deactivate it.
  2. Dormancy:
The gravity sensor constantly monitors the device’s orientation. If the device remains motionless for more than 100 seconds, it automatically enters dormancy mode to save power and protect the tube from prolonged exposure damage. It reactivates upon detecting movement.
  3. Deactivation of Functions:
Press the power button five times to deactivate the functions mentioned above. The red light in the pods will flash five times to indicate deactivation. To reactivate, press the button five times again.
For temporary deactivation, press the button three times — the red light will flash three times to indicate this mode. Temporarily disabled functions automatically reactivate when the device is powered on again.
  4. IR Flood Light:
After powering on, press the button twice — the right pod’s LED will flash twice, while the left pod’s LED will remain steady. The IR flood light will turn on simultaneously. Press the button twice again to turn off both the IR light and the indicator LEDs.
  5. Manual Gain Control:
After installing compatible 37mm manual gain tubes (e.g., Photonis and NNVT three-pin tubes, U.S. MX-11769 tubes, or tubes with flying wires) following the installation manual, the user can rotate the power switch clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the intensifier’s gain manually.
